Billecart-Salmon
In 1818, the marriage of Nicolas François Billecart and Elizabeth Salmon marked the beginning of the champagne house. Since then, the family has been crafting great wines on the unique land of Champagne, passing down from generation to generation a passion for craftsmanship and a spirit of innovation.
Today, the company is headed by Mathieu Roland-Billecart, a representative of the seventh generation of the founding family.
The House of Billecart-Salmon owns 100 hectares of vineyards in the most prestigious zones of Champagne, with an additional 100 hectares under long-term lease. The philosophy of the House is elegance and refinement, achieved through key principles:
- Extended lees aging — from three years for the base cuvées to over ten years for the prestige cuvées.
- Minimal dosage to preserve finesse and delicacy.
- Partial aging in oak barrels for volume and depth of flavor.
- Prolonged fermentation at low temperatures.
- An extensive collection of reserve wines.
The result of this meticulous work is wines with a distinct personality and an aristocratic character, capable of highlighting life’s finest moments and creating a sense of celebration.
