BELUGA GROUP announces its operational results for 2018
- The company’s overall sales continued good performance +1,4 %
- The sales of imported brands grew +29,5 %
- The export sales accelerated +32,5 %
The company’s overall sales for the full year 2018 were 14 360 thousand 9L cases, with moderate growth +1,4 %. The sales of the company’s own brands remained almost at the level of 2017 and amounted to 13 029 thousand 9L cases.
Sales of imported brands, which the company represents exclusively in Russia, increased very strongly – up 29,5 % to 1 331 thousand 9L cases. The acceleration was driven by both Spirits, led in particular by the William Grant & Sons range, rum Barcelo and brandy Torres, and imported Wine portfolio – thanks to organic growth and new partnerships with Luce, Masi, Gerard Bertrand, Billecart-Salmon and others.
Export operations continued dynamism – the sales were +32,5 % and reached 612 thousand 9L cases. This is due to a number of factors, the most important of which is building of Beluga brand awareness in the world. Beluga's positions in Israel and India are significantly strengthened, with Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Holland and Austria, as well as the Duty Free channel demonstrating good results.
Chief Executive Officer of BELUGA GROUP Alexander Mechetin commented on the results for the full year 2018: “The group implements the approved strategy. We keep attracting new customers, increasing presence in premium segment, diversifying business, developing new products, and enhancing leadership in the major industry’s categories. This summer the winery Golubitskoe Estate was purchased by BELUGA GROUP and in the nearest future we will produce Russian still wine under the Golubitskoe Estate brand in the most dynamically developing premium segment and sparkling wine – Tete de Cheval. In collaboration with market experts, we explore new categories of spirits: one of the most important launches of this year is the first Russian gin in the premium segment – Green Baboon. Good performance is demonstrated by the new products we have launched this year – Belaya Sova (Snow Owl) and Mednaya Loshadka (Copper Horse), positive dynamics are in brandy range, local whisky and imported wine, Beluga export sales are growing, the specialized alcohol retail chain “WinLab” is rapidly developing. I want to specify that the group has doubled the number of the outlets for 2018. This distribution channel is very important for the group and is one of the most promising areas of the company's development within the strategy of diversification.
All these achievements would have been impossible without a support of company’s employees. We have many tasks and goals ahead, which are ignited by the customers of our products, and we will not disappoint them.”
