Familia Torres

Since its founding in 1870, Familia Torres has combined tradition and innovation to create premium wine and brandy. Familia Torres’s roots in Penedès, near Barcelona, go back more than three centuries, with the earliest winegrowing references dating back to 1678. It has historically owned wineries and vineyards in Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat and Costers del Segre.
The commitment to protect the land and the environment, the pursuit of excellence and a passion for wine culture have been passed down from generation to generation. Fourth-generation family member Miguel A. Torres pioneered the planting of Cabernet Sauvignon in Spain, creating Mas La Plana in 1970. For the fifth generation, the focus is on making wines from unique vineyards and recovering ancestral varieties in Catalonia, as well as in other parts of Spain and Chile.
In addition to owning vineyards in the Catalan regions of Penede, Conca de Barbera, Priorat, and Costers del Segre, Familia Torres also owns more properties in leading Spanish wine regions—Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, and Rias Baixas—as well as in California and Chile. In total, the company owns more than 1,300 hectares of vineyards, and its products are available in over 150 countries around the world.
Familia Torres is a member of Primum Familiae Vini — an association of 12 wine families who are among the most prestigious wine producers of Europe.
In 2018 and for the fifth consecutive year, Familia Torres wines have been considered The World's Most Admired Wine Brand by professionals of the sector, according to the ranking of Drinks International magazine. No other wine brand in the world has led this ranking so many times.
