Ricasoli
The Barone Ricasoli family is the oldest winemaking dynasty in Italy, having owned the Castello di Brolio since 1141. Baron Bettino Ricasoli, known by the nickname “the Iron Baron,” dedicated many years to improving the quality of Chianti wine. In 1872, he created the famous “Chianti formula,” establishing the principles that remain relevant to this day.
Today, the heir to this wine empire, Francesco Ricasoli, is the owner of 240 hectares of vineyards. These vineyards are situated within a total estate area of 1,200 hectares in the finest lands of the Chianti zone. He also owns the ancient 800-year-old castle. On these lands, a magnificent collection of Chianti wines is produced, including outstanding Chianti Gran Selezione.
