Torres Santa Digna

In 1979, Familia Torres acquired a small winery in the Chilean town of Curicó and became the first foreign company to produce wines from grapes grown at the foot of Andean volcanoes.

Familia Torres was the first Chilean winery to use temperature-controlled steel tanks for fermenting wines, and quality French oak barrels for aging; this method is the key to the complexity and elegance of the brand’s wines.

Today, the Curicó winery is equipped with cutting-edge equipment, which to meticulously control the entire production process.

Santa Digna is a collection of varietal wines created from the most popular grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The wines of the brand are of impeccable quality and showcase the classic characteristics of the grape varieties from which they are produced.

The name of the brand – Santa Digna – is derived from the border crosses which served to delineate territories and were believed to grant good luck and protection to those who went beyond the state borders.

One of the key priorities of the Torres family is to preserve the viticultural heritage and pass on traditions to future generations of winemakers. That is why Torres pays great attention to environmental issues: the company treats wastewater, partakes in the protection and replanting of regional forests, and supports the conservation of rare bird species, such as the Bonelli's eagle in Spain and the Andean condor in Chile. Moreover, the company invests in research on renewable energy and hybrid cars, as well as in studies on the vineyards’ and forests’ operation.
