Ron Barcelo Company was founded in 1929. A young Spanish businessman Julian Barcelo founded Barcelo & Co in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic is the heart of the Caribbean and the best place on the planet for the best rum! The average temperature of 30⁰ at a humidity of 90% is ideal for the production of rum. Ageing for 1 year under these conditions is equivalent to four years of ageing in a cold region.

During the time kept in a barrel the spirits acquire a rich amber colour, aroma and rich taste. Ron Barcelo Imperial rum got the title of the best rum in the world from the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago, which received the highest score of 97/100 points.
